Below you can watch a recording of the first Introducing Collections talk. This series from Outside In offers the opportunity to find out about unique collections from museums, galleries and archives across the UK in a one hour lunchtime talk followed by Q&A.
The first talk sees Dr Alexandra Hill from the Wellcome Collection focus on the doodles and notes that can be found in rare historical books.
About this talk: A rare book is not just something you read or a piece of text. It is a physical item with hidden depths and hidden histories. Pre-1851 printed materials were designed to be interacted with in different ways, providing space for thoughts, ideas and even other objects. Using examples from the collections of Early Printed Books held at the Wellcome Collection in London, librarian Dr Alexandra Hill will be revealing what can be discovered within the pages of these amazing items.
Details of the next Introducing Collections talk will be shared on our events page, which can be found here: Outside In events
