Alex has a deep fascination with texture, light, colour, and shape which is reflected in her photography-based digital works. Some are abstract and expressionist, documenting her shifting moods and mental health, while others portray her responses to places and events.
The same influences come through in her acrylic paintings which feature strong geometric elements and contrasts of light and dark. A feeling of balance in composition is important to her and her work often has symmetrical or near-symmetrical elements.
She also loves to draw and sketch, working with pencil, pen, and oil pastels on subjects from still life and life drawing to imagined scenes.
