Outside In is launching a new series of online talks called Introducing Collections. This series will offer the opportunity to find out about unique collections from museums, galleries and archives across the UK in a one hour lunchtime talk followed by Q&A. The event will have a BSL interpreter.

The first talk in the series will come from Dr Alexandra Hill from the Wellcome Collection and will focus on the doodles and notes that can be found in rare historical books. It will begin at 1pm on Friday, 5 February 2021 and take place online via Zoom.

About this talk: A rare book is not just something you read or a piece of text. It is a physical item with hidden depths and hidden histories. Pre-1851 printed materials were designed to be interacted with in different ways, providing space for thoughts, ideas and even other objects. Using examples from the collections of Early Printed Books held at the Wellcome Collection in London, librarian Dr Alexandra Hill will be revealing what can be discovered within the pages of these amazing items.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
