Creative Drop In Session: Paper Sculpting – ‘Break Free in 3D’ – Tuesday 6 October 2020, 2 – 3.30pm

Tuesday 6 October 2020

With advice from out Artists Advisory Group, we have started a series of Creative Drop In Sessions for Outside In artists, which will be taking place online throughout the autumn. These sessions will offer a chance for artists to get together and enjoy some creativity, with a number of creative workshops planned. All the workshops are free and open to all!

‘Break Free in 3D’ explores 3D Sketching and paper sculpting and is led by Stuart Milburn. Taking place on Tuesday 6 October from 2-3:30pm, it will be delivered as a drop-in style online workshop via Zoom and is suitable for all abilities – an opportunity to communicate ideas, connect with others, share knowledge and have some fun. The workshop will be delivered at a comfortable pace which is realistic in terms of completing the activity within the allotted 90 minutes and is designed to encourage participants to explore the possibilities of working in 3D and to produce artwork using just paper.

The activity will begin with a short warm up exercise. Then, starting with a piece of cardboard (approx 200x200mm) as a base, shapes and forms are created from card/paper using basic sculpting techniques such as cutting, folding, and tearing. These are then added to the base to create a 3D model or sculpture this can be abstract or figurative.
