For December 2013, Roy from London is our Artist of the Month.
Roy is a current patient of Bethlem Royal Hospital, River House Medium Secure Unit. He began drawing or ‘doodling’, as he calls it, six years ago. When he came to the Bethlem he began taking his work more seriously and experimenting with his style within the art studios on site. “It helps me to relax and stops me from self harming. Whenever I feel low I can go to my room and draw. I love to draw heads and faces, houses and fidgety lines. Sometimes they are happy, sometimes sad. The characters and images I draw can describe elements of my past or visions I have for the future.”
