In this series of ceramic work, I have inscribed each of the individual fungi sculptures with an ancient magical amulets’ sigil (Seal of the Demons) which can be used for invoking evil spirits. Compiled in the mid-seventeenth century from original manuscripts and fragments from the British Museum Library, The Lesser Key of Solomon, is an anonymous grimoire (or spell book) focused on demonology. It is divided into five books, the Ars Goetia, the Ars Theurgia-Goetia, the Ars Paulina, the Ars Almadel, and the Ars Notoria. Each of the Sigil’s can be found within its demotic pages.
The challenge- Are you heroic enough to smash the sculpture, releasing the demon to do your bidding?
