The poem is based on the 14th Article of the Universal Declaration og Human Rights which gives the right of asylum.
Illustrator Charlotte Wilson said: "The black and white piece is chaotic and all over the place. I wanted this to be a metaphor for how wanting equality for Disabled people makes me feel. I have so much I want to say to so many people and it seems black and white to me so why doesn't anyone in power get it and make it right!"
I say my poem follows the path of genocidal outrage. Many of us think we have already embarked on this path. The narrator demonstrates persistence in the face of those who who refuse to listen. I find the illustration hard to look at. It plays with my eyes, makes the poem hard to read and reinforces the position
