The Jerwood Collection and Outside In
The Harley Gallery, Nottinghamshire
20 November 2021 to 6 February 2022
Outside In is delighted to be partnering with The Jerwood Collection as part of the collection’s year-long residency at The Harley Gallery.
The Kindred Spirits exhibition will unite work from two collections – Jerwood and Outside In’s own – and explore the connections artists have across time, medium and subject matter.
It will include artists that connect with the Outsider Art genre in different ways; those who identify as Outsider artists, like Alan Davie; those who faced barriers, including Edward Burra and Peter Howson; work by self-taught artists such as Alfred Wallis; and those influenced by the genre, such as Rose Wylie.
Outside In artists will be involved with the selection and curation from the charity’s collection, supported by curator José Forrest, to respond to the selection from The Jerwood made by director Marc Steene.
Applications are now open for the Curating Exhibitions course for this project
